Cafe Artemis Campbell, CA

Don't let the settings of The Pruneyard deceive you, Cafe Artemis' locale is like going to Bloomingdales and finding a pair of Paige jeans on sale! Who would have known that a place like this can exist in such a location. But with its bistro-like atmosphere and outdoor patio, Cafe Artemis possesses great freshness and good hospitality. The Saganaki is to die for if you are a cheese lover, in which I am. The hummus, I would not order this again, it was bland...I'd rather bring my own hummus from trader joes than ordering this again. The Greek salad was ideally fresh and crips, it had a nice addition of capers unlike other greek salads served else ware. And onto the "10 minute wait," combo platter....the rice was mediocre, I am a fan of Basmati rice and Rice Pilaf, but this rice just did not hit the spot. The Couscous that is served with every entree was excellent and had a nutty texture. The Lamb Kofte was to die for, it had good texture and distinct flavor. Considering the Chicken Shish Kabob was made with white breast meat, it wasn't dry and cooked perfectly with a nice Char. The Lamb and Beef Doner slices were perfect morsels of meat and did not have embedded heavy fat chunks that I find in a lot of other Mediterranean eateries. Overall....all the meats were perfectly charred and grilled and had great flavor. I would definitely go again and especially order the the lamb kofte patties ...

Conclusion: This place is better than Thea but without the decorative ambience and frou frou shananigans you would find if you were to eat at SR.
